CLOSING THE DEAL
OK! Your almost done. Now it's time to "close the deal". Make the employer feel like She/He MUST have you on their team. Below are two basic concepts that will separate you from the other candidates interested in your position.
ASKING QUESTIONS:
Never: Asked about Money / Benefits / Vacation on the first interview
Always: Have your questions type out to show your preparation
Never: Asked the same question to different interviews (lack of preparation)
Always have a minimum of three questions prepared
What to do if the interviewers have answered all of your prepared questions? Simply present the printed sheet and tell them that they have been answered all of your questions.
Sample Question
Why is the position Open?
Answer: Growth / Termination / New Position
Follow up Question:
Growth - What did the prior employee do to get promoted?
Termination - What did the prior employee do to get terminated?
New Position - What job duty does this new company feels is most crucial?
Research their product/service from the website.
OBTAIN THE INTERVIEWER'S E-MAIL ADDRESS
Never: Beg for the job! This step is simply to make yourself stand out. Thank them
for their time, and state you intentions
Always: Have your recruiter/3rd Party review the resume for mistakes
A written letter is great but, depending on when you interview it may take to long. E-mails have become acceptable substitutes.
