PREPARE YOURSELF:

When an Athlete decides to compete, she or he begins an intense training program.  They are committed to winning.  When you interview you will need to adopt a similar course of action.

 

1. Research the position.

a.   Where is the company?  Take a Practice Run!

b.   Why is the position open? (Growth / Replacement / New)

c.   How many people have they interviewed?

2. Make sure your resume covers the requirements

3. Think about how you handled those situations

4.  Outline your day using very specific aspects:

a.   Time of day you started:

b.   How many people you reported to

c.  How often you performed these daily tasks

Phones Answered

Reports Created

Orders Entered

Invoices Processed

Schedules Confirmed

5.Be able to explain how you have used each software program listed on your resume

Example

Ms Excel:         Create spreadsheets using formulas, hyper-links.

PowerPoint:     Slide creation, transitions, & visual /audio insertion

MS Outlook:     Maintain Calendars and distribution lists

MS Word:         Mail merge, and the ability to type 50wpm
